Reports in Poland claim Birmingham City are interested in signing Przemyslaw Placheta and now there are suggestions AEK Athens are also keen on the Norwich City winger. Polish news site Meczyki claims that management of the Greek Super League side are looking to sign the 24-year-old this summer. Their latest report on Placheta comes less than 24 hours after claims that several Championship clubs were also interested in the winger. Birmingham City were the only club mentioned in the report, with suggestions that the Blues could look towards striking a loan to buy deal with Norwich.
Placheta missed the start of City’s 2021/22 Premier League campaign due to Covid. He made five consecutive starts under Dean Smith in December and January but was named in the starting line-up for a Premier League fixture only once in the final months of the campaign. Postecoglou had an impressive managerial record in Japan and Australia, but a lot of teams in Europe were not ready to give him a chance including AEK Athens. He was in the running to take the AEK Athens managerial job before the Greek top flight team took a different managerial route. The disappointment of losing the AEK job lasted briefly as he was given the managerial job at Parkhead almost immediately. A few days after missing out on the AEK Athens job, Postecoglou was living the dream of managing one of the most successful teams in Europe when it comes to major trophies. He was delighted to get the opportunity to manage Celtic who were the first English team to win the European Cup.
Former AEK Athens goalkeeper Barkas wanted to leave Celtic during the winter transfer window earlier this year, but he was unable to get his wish. At the moment, Celtic have a lot of goalkeepers who are ahead of him in the pecking order as they fight for the Scottish Premiership title with defending champions Rangers under the guidance of manager Ante Postecoglou.
Apart from AEK Athens, Carrera has also worked at clubs such as Bari in his native Italy, Serie A side Juventus and Spartak Moscow.
