CHAMPIONSHIP: COVENTRY CANCEL ENOBAKHARE CONTRACT

English Championship highflyers Coventry City have cancelled the contract of Nigerian striker Bright Enobakhare. This is coming four months after the former AEK Athens striker signed for the Sky Blues.

Enobakhare, 23, signed a two-year deal with Coventry City in July on the back of his spell at SC East Bengal in the Indian top division. The ex-Wolves and AEK Athens player featured once for the Sky Blues until his contract was terminated this week. His sole appearance came against Northampton Town in their Carabao Cup clash in August. Enobakhare played the first hour as Coventry City were dumped out of the competition at the first round stage via a 2-1 defeat to Northampton Town.

Nigeria u-23 international Enobakhare started his career at Wolves and he went on to make 40 appearances in the league for the Midlands club. While he was a Wolves player, the striker was sent on loan to clubs such as Coventry City and Wigan Athletic in the English Football League. He was also sent on loan to Kilmarnock in the Scottish league while he was at Wolves. He left Wolves to join Greek Super League team AEK Athens at the start of the 2020/21 season.

Enobakhare spent just one season in the Greek top flight before returning to English football to sign for the Sky Blues this summer. At the time of his arrival, he was the fifth new signing at Coventry City. He made his debut in the EFL Cup tie at home to Northampton Town.

Nigerian striker Enobakhare has had to deal with a lot of issues during his time at Coventry City. He went home often for personal reasons and was never really fit. The player was not involved in any matchday squad at Coventry City in the English Championship till date. The Sky Blues are one of the best teams in the English Championship this season.
